What a difference a year can make! If you have been reading my blog for a while, you may recall that a year ago, I was letting go of obligations and quitting a business to simplify my life. I was suffering from Adrenal Fatigue and burn out. I am so grateful that God can use all these circumstances to bring us to the end of ourselves and through it all we grow and are stretched.
The Day I Quit Blogging, Not Sure If I’d Return
After I let you all know about my health problems you were so kind to cheer me on and give me your support, but I quietly slipped away to take an unexpected break from the blog. I had to take some time off to know whether this was where I was to keep writing and spending time. I didn’t give any explanation, but put up a page saying, I had left and wasn’t sure what the next steps would be. In the time I was off we had some unexpected family events that needed my attention.
I ended up taking 6 months off. It was a good time of restoration and healing. I was able to regain my health, my focus and an awareness of what God had called me to do. I am happy to report that I am healed of adrenal fatigue and am in the best health I’ve ever been. (More on that later)
Why Did I Come Back?
The Difference A Year Can Make
As you know, when God wants to get our attention, he uses all kinds of people and circumstances to lead us down the path that He has set before us.
This past fall I was sitting in our home group Bible Study introducing myself, and naturally said that I was a writer, and blogger, etc. The words flowed off my tongue like breathing. It surprised me, but I knew without a doubt that it was time to declare that this was my place to come back to for another season of life.
A series of confirmations came that I should blog again
Third time’s a charm right?
Yes, I have started one website and three different blogs in my years of writing online, but I am not one to give up!
In my quest for answers about the future, I stumbled across a great article by Mark Altrogge- “ Why Christians Should Paint, Dance, Quilt, Compose Music, Write Stories, Decorate Cookies and Participate In The Arts.”
Returning To The Blog With New Vision
Back in November, I returned to the blog, and announced it here. It’s been great to be back, and I love writing for all of you.
Returning to blogging, meant setting some boundaries. I told my family that if I was going to blog again, my time and commitments had to look different than before.
For those who don’t know, professional blogging is very time consuming, and it can easily take over your whole life if you aren’t careful. To be a successful blogger, it’s a full time job. I now have two sweet friends who work for me, part time behind the scenes. I don’t do this alone, and feel this is the best way to make blogging work for my season of life.
I am committed first to homeschooling my boys, and to my calling as a wife and mother. Blogging has to fit within that structure, and I think I am finding my groove much better this time around.
What Is Up Around Little House Blog?
Here is the exciting part! If you are still reading, then bravo to you, and thanks for reading. Here is what is going to be taking place. I will continue to write on all aspects of the homemaking, from decorating, to cooking, keeping house and everything else in between.
I have a passion to inspire women to create beauty in their homes in practical and meaningful ways. You are going to see an increase in my posts about home decorating, renovating, and DIY type stuff. First, because those are my hobby and passion, but also because we are entering into the third phase of home renovation. It’s our own Little House version of Fixer Upper!
Renovation Plans For Our Little 1905 Farmhouse
This is a picture of our little house in it’s original form. Isn’t it cute?
Up to this point I have stayed rather quiet about sharing details of our home renovations, since we were at a standstill for the last 6 years, until we were debt free. We are ready to move forward with the biggest Little House makeover we have done to date. Stay tuned!
A Fresh New Blog Design and Focus
Check out my blog’s new digs! Today, Laura from Pixel Me Designs, installed a fresh new design here. (and by the way, she is great to work with) I hope you enjoy the reading experience, and feel refreshed as you visit.
